Elizabeth Susan McQueen was born 23 February 1842 in Edinburgh, Scotland. When she was twelve she stitched her sampler. At some point in her adult years she emigrated to Prince Edward Island. The McQueen name had been seen on the Island at least since the arrival of the Selkirk settlers on the "Polly" in 1803. It is very likely that many of her relatives settled in the Belfast Area.
